We are inside of month until our mission trip begins.  Bibi and I have been going to Guatemala for over 20 years and these trips always seem to come together just right, often in ways that couldn’t have been envisioned in the beginning.  This is one of those trips.  The final number of missionaries in our group is just over 35, which is about perfect.  We have the right personnel and resources and the San Lucas group is anxious to see us again.

We are adding some more construction projects to this year’s effort and that will allow us to work with Katie again so that will be a treat.  Medical and dental teams are ready to go, transportation is arranged, housing in San Lucas and Antigua is reserved, supplies are organized (more or less!)

Are YOU ready?!  I hope you are as excited as I am!  Here are a few more random thoughts for now and I will keep sending more as we get closer to the departure date.

  • if you haven’t sent me a copy of your passport and professional license please do that immediately.
  • check to make sure you passport is good until August or later. They will make your have at least 6 months of time left on it to be able to leave the country.
  • if you are contemplating bringing gifts for our patients and the people we help be sure they are not heavy or bulky. You will be able to bring one suitcase that weighs less than 50 pounds and the gifts need to fit in it.
  • If you have a big gathering of things that would require its own box please let me know. One of our biggest challenges is getting all of our supplies down there so anything extra needs to be coordinated.
  • I have had several emails from folks with specific questions. Don’t hesitate to let me hear from you if you need anything.

Upcoming will be other reminders of what to pack and more general suggestions.   Stay tuned !

It is the new year’s first weeks and I give thanks for all of you and the opportunity God is giving us to be of service.  Happy new year and may God bless you and your family.

See you in three weeks!
