On Thursday, the 9th of June we got a very pleasant surprise. Katie Wallyn, our San Lucas Missionary contact and dear friend, was coming through Dallas on her way to Minnesota and decided to visit Byron McKnight. When he decided to share her with us, it was a total surprise. Byron arranged for as many of the Mission St. Luke volunteers as possible have a meet and greet with Katie at the Savor Gastropub in Klyde Warren Park in downtown Dallas.

It was a wonderful evening filled with comradery. Katie was there as full of life as ever and we got to spend time with her and many of the other volunteers that we had shared our mission with. Katie updated us on San Lucas activities and on some of our friends who we had developed close friendships with. It is hard to believe the bond that can be developed so quickly in a ministry like Mission St Luke’s.

The time together was all too short but everyone left re-energized and wishing we were back in San Lucas.
